Usability Testing: Add-on Explorer of MathWorks

Project Goal

Carry out a usability study examining how users interact with the product (especially the categorization panel)

Process

  • Conduct expert review using Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design

  • Combined findings to create a team expert review

  • Communicate with sponsor to determine key questions and tasks

  • Develop moderator guide

  • Write screener and recruit participants

  • Conduct usability test

  • Frequent meetings with team to analyze results and make recommendations

Expert Review and Heuristics Evaluation

The expert review was conducted using Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design.

These heuristics were utilized in order to identify usability issues, assess their severity, and provide recommendations to improve the user experience.

Findings & Recommendations

We found 13 general findings about Home & Detail Pages, 7 Filter & Category findings, and 5 findings about the Search Function.

 

We labeled the finding with different levels according to their severity and we provide some recommendations for each finding. and the following are the examples of the findings from the report.
